HISTORY:
The joint endeavor of Larry Adams and David Guempel, GAYLORD is a modest kennel nestled on 10 quiet and secluded acres 15 miles southwest of St. Louis. For over 25 years many corgis have won our hearts and we have been fortunate to have bred and finished over 50 champions.
Our first corgi, CH O'Melaghlin's Jones Kilarney, was purchased as a pet. On a whim we entered her in a local dog show and she won a four-point major....we were hooked! Jones' first litter produced AM/CAN CH Gaylord's Bobbindobber ROMX ("Bobbie") and thus began the Gaylord legacy.
BREEDING:
In our breeding program we strive for soundness -- both physical and mental. All breeding dogs undergo testing for hips (OFA), eyes (CERF) and von Willebrands disease (DNA-vWD). Bitches are whelped in our house and puppies are socialized in our kitchen. Puppies are not placed in their new homes until they are at least 12 weeks old, as we feel that is key to their temperament development and overall health.
PUPPY/DOG ADOPTION:
Gaylord provides all new owners with a health record (vaccination and worming), pedigree and information on the sire and dam of each and every corgi we place. If our dogs are going to pet homes, they are required to be spayed/neutered per our contract and are registered with the AKC on a Limited Registration basis.
There are two ironclad rules we adhere to, without exception, in the adoption process -- prospective owners must visit Gaylord and a fenced yard is a must!

In our never-ending quest to be as knowledgeable about this delightful breed as possible, Larry has fulfilled a life-long dream and is approved by the American Kennel Club to judge not only Pembroke Welsh Corgis, but the entire Herding Group, Norwich Terriers, Norfolk Terriers, Skye Terriers, Border Terriers, Scottish Terriers and Best In Show. David is in the process of following the same route, and is now approved to judge Pembroke Welsh Corgis and Norwich Terriers!
